Further Improve Your Patent Prosecution With The Recently Released Enhancements To LexisNexis PatentAdvisor®

March 4, 2016 Reed Tech IP Solutions

These new enhancements will allow you to:

  • Quickly visualize key information within a report to build a clear understanding about your examiner/application
  • Learn from your peers by fully leveraging information in PatDoc Search with Boolean Search
  • Recent SCOTUS rulings may have changed your world; see how your competitors have fared with rejection stats for Alice, Mayo and Myriad
  • Know the experience level of your examiner for the correct approach during prosecution

Enhanced PDF Reports

  • Reports provide new statistics comparing examiner to examiner’s art unit, providing deeper context of the examiner’s behavior patterns
  • Each section of the report has call outs of key data within that section so you can easily find the most pertinent information
  • Downloadable reports now provide additional value beyond online examiner dashboards

Boolean Search is Now Available in PatDoc Search

You can now use basic Boolean operators within the PatDoc text search box.

Basic Boolean operators include:

  • “and”
  • “or”
  • quotations

101 Rejection Stats now track Alice, Mayo and Myriad

Rejection statistics now track references to three recent Supreme Court decisions relating to 35 USC 101:

  • Alice
  • Mayo
  • Myriad

Figuring out how to get over 101 in light of these cases is a significant struggle. You are now able to see how other applicants have responded to these cases and what was successful.

Examiner Experience Level

Knowing whether an examiner is an SPE or early in their career is valuable information. New examiners are often tentative and SPEs are usually not the working examiner. Having this information will help you better refine your prosecution strategy.

After Final Consideration Pilot Program 2.0 Statistics

  • All dashboards now show the number of After Final Consideration Pilot Program 2.0 requests, as well as the outcome of these requests (successful/allowance, not successful/advisory action).
  • This additional information about this course of action is crucial to helping you decide how to proceed when you receive a final office action.

Customized Excel Report Download

  • You can now download only the data that is relevant to you, facilitating review and analysis.
  • Your downloaded spreadsheets will be stored in PatentAdvisor (within a briefcase chosen by you and on your home page), so you can easily go back and get the same report without having to prepare it again.

Briefcase Naming

  • You can use non-alphanumeric characters (such as quotes or the section symbol) in briefcase names. This will be especially helpful if you have a large number of briefcases.

Briefcase Sharing

  • As the owner of a briefcase, you will now be able to share it with others.
  • Any PPMs you create for a briefcase will be private to you, but you will be able to forward PPM email alerts to interested parties.
